How Can Tarisai Vushe Win Australian Idol?

Answer? Sing something that wasn’t popularised by a black artist.

Seriously, her only talent is the ability to regurgitate lyrics in the Whitney Houston/Tina Turner style. She has yet to step outside that zone and it is painfully obvious why - she’ll fall flat on her face.

    i get this uncanny feeling that you're only spitting this rubbish out here cos she's black...excuse me, did you say "better looking"...oops, i think you must have meant "more caucasian"..freaking racist! what? you must feel threatened by seeing a talented, eloquent and confident black female? she is a talented singer and has her own unique style, she gets up there and she works that stage. she's very engaging and is definitely a breath of fresh air to the australian idol scene. quite frankly, she's the only one on the show i'm interested in watching... i don't pay much attention to anyone else there, why? cos they don't stand out. to the author of this sorry piece of trash, try "regurgitating", or whatever nonsense word you choose to use, whitney houston and or tina turner and see how far you go with it. ....oh, and please post it here when you're done so we can all have a good laugh watching it.

    If I had meant "more caucasian", I would have said so. Put her next to Natalie Gauci and ask people to choose who is better looking and I'd put good money on Natalie winning. Maybe I'm wrong and more people consider Tarisai attractive. I find that difficult, but not impossible, to believe. Attraction is a very personal thing.
    Immediately suggesting that someone finding other people more attractive means they're racist makes it apparent where you're coming from, though.

    In any event, I see many talented, eloquent and confident black females, even if you only count singers - try Beyoncé Knowles or... *gasp*... Whitney Houston and Tina Turner. Or if you want to restrict it to Idol finalists, how about Jessica Mauboy from last season?
    Tarisai is not of their caliber. Her single "talent" is to be a less impressive clone of Whitney Houston or Tina Turner. That is not a unique style! It's ridiculous that you even think she has her own style when it's apparent to a lot of folks that she most assuredly does not. She's a cover artist and that's all she'll ever be.

    As for whether I can do it? No, of course I can't. I've never claimed otherwise. That hardly invalidates my argument. That's like saying your criticism of me is invalid because my writing style is better than yours. Your criticism is invalid because you're full of shit, your pathetic writing standard just makes you look even more foolish. :)

    God won't forgive me. Firstly because having an opinion on a singer in a karaoke contest is not something He is going to care about. Secondly, he won't forgive me because that would require I repent of my sins - and I refuse. I am proud to have committed certain sins against God and he would know it.
    Thirdly, and most importantly, he won't forgive me because he doesn't exist. I'm sure you'd agree that's a pretty big sticking point, but you'd have to pull your head out of your arse long enough to realise it first, I suppose.

    You say she is not beautiful, you are right in your eyes. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Ask any black person they will tell you she is a gem, she has it all! She fits an african definition of beautiful. Many men would bet their last dollar for her. Simple, this goes to show how caucansian and black differ in their perception of beauty. For example, in general, a beautiful caucassian is a blonde haired skinny tall girl with "fair" features on face; Black beauty incoperates the African glow, body curves/structure with a fair bit of flesh and good skin texture - and Tarisai has that. So basing your argument on beauty is a non starter.

    Secondly, a lot has been said on her character as fake. African culture allows you to be yourself as much as you can in private or with friends, but when you come to adults or a public arena there is a requirement of dignity and respect. One of those is to take criticism constructively and not speak back! This cultural thing is inbuilt and becomes a lifestyle. And this is Tarisai portraying those on idol. On the contrary, caucasians have a liberty to swear, speak their minds back to their parents etc of which it is taboo to black people.

    In conclusion I will say the idol competition has reached that level where cultural/racial/tribal (not necessarily racist) values determine the progress of the contestants. Sad on Tarisai cause she might be a minority and might leave not because she is bad, but certain things just wont change

    Tarisai opened the flood gates last night when she kept bringing up that she was angry because people were calling her fake.
    LMAO it is about time someone made her say something other then "thank you", seriously it was driving me insane.
    I think kyle hit the nail on head when he told her that she is different back stage to when she is getting criticize after her performances and just hides behind "Thank you".
    Another thing that is annoying about her is that she is so *thinks* conceited. That comes through most of all when she is performing. I think its important to have confidence but there should be a balance between confident and conceited... or she can hide it a little better like the really famous musicians lol.

    I hope Tarisai Vushe gets her butt kicked off the show tonight. I like the rest and if she gets kicked off maybe she will start to do some soul searching... she will probly only find that it was all "MARK AND DICKO" fault. Heaven forbid that god might have created people who don't like her

    That whole section was hilarious. I wish I could upload it to YouTube but it'd get yanked I suspect, even though it would be fair use.
    Mark and Dicko goaded her repeatedly and she still kept prefacing her remarks with not meaning offense, etc. It was pretty clear that Mark and Dicko were trying as hard as they could to get a real reaction out of her but she's just too fake to give one.

    I understand that poeple have diffrernt views/opinions on the contestants of Australian idol.If you say she ain't good enough 4 ya liking then fine,leave it at that.If u are proud to be a sinner then have fun in HELL.I cannot stand peopple who ridicule GOD."do not be decieved God is not mocked.For watever man sows he shall also reap".....I hope you will be wise enough to realise the depth of your stupid statements and repent while it is day because when night comes there aint nothing you are going to be able to do abt them.It will be too late.Just leave God out of this for your own's sake.

    About Australian idol.Its just a show.take a deep breath and relax.....Its not all there is to life.IT ALSO DON'T MATTER WHICH ONE IS PRETTIER...we are all different and that is what makes us unique...!!!

    You wouldn't know what respect is even if it hit u like a stone.Take it from me...mainly because im African and Zimbabwean to be specific.....What she showed up there to the judges was nothing but respect.Don't ever expect a well brought up African girl to talk back or even argue with her elders.Its unheard of.But then again, don't take advantage of the respect u being showed because in private she sure can bite yo heard off.Bottom line,if u guys have no respect for your elders thatz your own cup of tea.Just don't think we are going to copy your lousy style just for the sake of fame.It don't work like that.

    It's all very well to respect your elders but it is absurd to respect them when they do things unworthy of it. Mark and Dicko were being deliberately cruel to her and she continued to put on the fakie-polite persona.
    Then when she was backstage and figured anything shot wouldn't go to air, she tried to let Mark have it. Talking back and even arguing with her elder, like you say she would never do. Hmm, I wonder why people would think she's fake?

    And let me get this straight, only Africans can show respect? Because that's what you're implying.
    And FYI, for all you know I'm from Zimbabwe as well. Imbecile. Neither of our nationalities has anything to do with our opinion of Tarisai, nor does it affect our ability to be polite or impolite. As a Zimbabwean you ought to know all about the capacity of your people for utterly disgusting behaviour.

    As I already pointed out above, "the Lord" is not going to have mercy on me, if he even exists. Please, learn your fucking religion if you're going to preach it to others. One of the key tenets of earning God's forgiveness is that you MUST REPENT OF YOUR SINS. If you do not repent then you will not be forgiven.

    If I'm going to Hell then at least I'll be in good company.

    Your statement is hardly a valid one compared to say a universal perception of beauty according to sociobiologists like Buss & Schmitt (1993). They suggest that full lips, hourglass figure, clear big eyes, lustrous shiny hair, symmetry, and clear smooth skin are beautiful features. I believe Tarisai some of those features except for lustrous hair and symmetry, but I still dont find her attractive, your comment about the ideal caucasian really comes down to personal taste.

    However, Im so glad that wanabe diva Tarisai was booted off Australian Idol, she has a limited range as a singer and yes she would make a fantastic Whitney/ Tina cover artist as mythor said in an earlier post.

    She is an obnoxious little girl, I only hope she grows out of this phase. Personally I believed Tarisai was getting way to big for her boots, she thought that a great voice would carry her to the end, but that just shows how naive she really is.

    this is AUSTRALIA not africa she was competing to be the next AUSTRALIAN idol not the next african idol if she wants to be all african then she should go back to africa and not complain when aussie dont like her african ways.     The opportunity to appear on Idol isn't rare, they hold auditions every year and tens of thousands of people show up. That's not rare!

    No, I don't want her to, it was my contention that she can't do them justice as she does with Whitney/Tina. She's a very limited performer and she showed that with her lackluster performance on Sunday night - a performance which got her booted from the show!

    If she could actually do songs outside that range she would be able to win Idol.

    This was an old post of course, but it looks like there is some implied racism here, which is actually fairly rare.

    She is utterly gorgeous, far better looking than the others that were there, but there are better looking people in the world. But I guess I am one of these weird people that finds people of all races attractive, and just judge them individually.

    She had a heavenly voice though.

    I've never met Tarisai, nor would I ever want to. So there goes that theory, too!

    The only real Australians are migrants. Prior to modern migrant settlement, there was no Australia, so the people who were here before then were not actually Australian either. This landmass was probably known by other names to the Aborigines but it certainly wasn't known as Australia - that came much later.
    And FYI Aborigines are not the original inhabitants of Australia either, they migrated to this landmass a very long time ago. As far as scientists have been able to determine, the land was empty when they arrived, but they are no more the original inhabitants than the folks who came much later.
    And conquering the local population went on long before white settlement of Australia and continues to go on today. If you want to have a big pansy ass cry about it, at least get with the times and complain about things such as Palestine.

    As for what's bugging me? Just imbeciles like you who STILL CAN'T LET IT GO! She lost, as she deserved, and is unlikely to be heard much from again. Also as she deserves. She was a spoilt little two faced brat who got her 15 minutes and can now release her CDs straight to the bargain bins for her idiot followers, such as yourself.
